To give you an idea of what type of art style I’m currently going for, it would be best to introduce the 3 artists that inspire me the most. I’m going to be picking certain constants within their art styles that I really like, and meld them together in my own.
First up is Alphonse Mucha. Here are two good links about him, he was a fantastic painter from the 19th century.
Things I want to incorporate from Mucha:
-rich color choices
-use of repeating symbols and geometry
-fluid drawing style
-emotion and planning put into his compositions
Next up is Frank Frazetta. The man is a legend, and if you haven’t seen his work before, you’re in for a treat now.
Frazetta was always brilliant when it came to use of color, to display and stir up emotion. He also was able to capture raw feeling and an acute sense of depth in his paintings. His classical use of staging is another one of the reasons he is still so popular with so many other artists, movie directors and fantasy lovers.
Last but definitely not least, is Cheeks-74.
Cheeks-74 is an amazing cartoonist, plain and simple. He has a consistent, simplistic yet effective character design. I’m going to definitely spend alot of time trying to attain the same level of clean, eye-catching line work that he has down to a science.
Next up is some examples of where I’m at, artistically- as of tonight. Should be up in a few hours, thanks for reading!
